Here's a Few Pictures We Took
Running Down the Road!

We flew in a Delta 777 to Manchester, England

Then went by train..

Across the English Countryside...

To Edinburgh, Scotland...

Where we stayed in the Thistle Hotel
the first night.

Next morning the Prestige
Bus picked us up at the Thistle and we started our tour north out of Edinburgh

Then Edradour was next
Our first stop
Single Malt Whisky!! Yep, this must be Scotland!!
Just up the road was Pitlochry where we had lunch.

We enjoyed the village

And shopped...
My favorite place was The Whisky Shop. We met two very nice ladies.
www.whiskyshop.com
Next we drove up A9 to Culloden.
Inverness
The Moray Firth led the way from Culloden
to Inverness
and our north Scotland home on the road. The Thistle Hotel again.
Inverness means beginning of the River Ness.
There were some nice views along the River Ness...
Some interesting buildings and architecture

A delicious and fast meal at a nice pub...
Have you seen my sea gull?
I think the dog has it figured out.
The River Ness runs south becoming Loch Ness,
where we would later be looking for the MONSTER!
Rolm Mills was the next stop on our tour...

We learned about making tartans...

some of the history of the tartans...

and some information about the clans themselves...

There was also a large gift shop.
Then off to Loch Ness.
The countryside south of Inverness was a pastoral scene
complete with conifers and sheep, and houses and farms
and hillsides
along the river
until the river broadened
and we glimpsed the loch itself...
The loch was beautiful and blue

with striations from light to dark to almost black
and streaks that could be almost anything
and then we saw a cloud hovering on the loch
and something inside the cloud
deserving a closer look
It was a castle!
The Urquhart Castle
Spectacular! Set Against the Loch!
There is construction going on
around Urquhart.
But unobstructed views are still available
An ancient history including the first recorded sighting of
the monster
We thoroughly enjoyed it
although my wife kept trying to get me aboard the catapult
And we did find the monster
The next point of interest for us was
Fort George
It waited for us on the Moray Firth near Inverness.
The next morning
It was with both sadness and expectation that we departed
Inverness and drove down A82 toward Glasgow.
One of the highlights on the way was
one of Thomas Telford's 1000 bridges.
Mountains and Moors and Lochs
Once again the natural beauty of Scotland amazed us.
The Glasgow stop on the tour visited the
Burrell Collection
The world famous Burrell Collection awaited us in Glasgow
as well as the rain and the River Clyde.
And then our trusty tour guide returned us safely to Edinburgh
once more.
